Today, the Boys and Girls Club of South Central Kansas celebrate 25 years of service to children in the Wichita Community.

The Boys and Girls Club offers after-school and summer programs focused on science and technology, art and physical education, plus homework help for nearly 200 students a day. Chief Professional Officer Juston White says the club emphasizes three things.

"We want kids to have a plan after they graduate from high school," he says. "We want them to display good character and citizenship and we want them to live healthy lifestyles, so I would say that the biggest reward is when club members come back as alumni and they’ve completed that task of really reaching their full potential."

White says that since launching in 1990, the club reached a significant milestone by moving from their main site on 25th Street and Grove to a new state-of-the-art facility on Opportunity Drive in north Wichita.

The 25th year celebration, taking place today at 6:30 at the club's site, will include a proclamation from the City of Wichita, cake, face painting, a photo booth and games.
