Global Village marks World AIDS Day in a special show devoted to the world music side of the Red Hot releases, a series of nearly a score of recordings in a variety of styles that benefit the Red Hot Organization. Since it began in 1989, the Red Hot series has involved some 400 hundred international artists and raised millions of dollars for AIDS education and prevention programs around the world.

This time in the Global Village, a variety of flamenco styles and artists - including pop-flamenco hitmakers, the Gipsy Kings from their 25th anniversary release; a nuevo flamenco release from guitarist Juan Carmona; the Miles Español project that brought together musicians and influences from both jazz and flamenco; and the Rough Guide to Flamenco compilation.
Thursday, December 3
Global Village marks birthdays of English singer-songwriter Ralph McTell, Italian composer Nino Rota, and Latin jazz pioneer Machito, and highlights new music from Spanish neo-folk and early music multi-instrumentalist Efren Lopez, Canadian folk ensemble Vishten, the Ultimate Guide to Scottish Folk, and Putumayo’s new Vintage Latino compilation.
