Wichita Public Schools has named a new Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools. Michele Ingenthron will fill the position that is soon-to-be-vacated by Dr. Alicia Thompson as she transitions to the role of future Superintendent for the entire district.
Ingenthron, who is currently the principal of Colvin Elementary, will begin her new position after Spring Break. She previously served as principal at Ortiz Elementary and Lincoln Elementary, as well as an assistant principal at Mueller. Ingenthron began her teaching career in Dodge City.
In a news release, Ingenthron expressed her excitement for the position, saying she looks forward to serving all of the district's elementary school teachers, principals, students and parents.
John Allison, the outgoing superintendent of Wichita Public Schools described Ingenthron as a tremendous asset to the district leadership team. Allison is leaving Wichita to become the leader of the Olathe public school district at the end of this school year. His successor, Dr. Alicia Thompson will then take over.
