WSU's Chief Information Officer Leaves For Job At Brown University

Wichita State's Chief Information Officer and VP of information technology is leaving for a position at Brown University. 

Dr. Ravi Pendse announced today that he's been named the vice president for computing and information services at Brown University, starting Sept. 1.

Pendse specializes in computer networking and information technology in higher education. He's worked in a variety of areas at Wichita State, from library systems to digital classroom design and campus IT planning.

Wichita State became 100 percent wireless in August 2007, connecting all academic and administrative buildings and residence halls. Pendse also led a faculty task force that developed IT-equipped classrooms and standardized the user interfac

WSU President John Bardo says that he's sorry to lose Pendse, but noted that his PhD is from WSU. "So one of our graduates will now assume a major role in an Ivy League university."

When she's not out making lattes in her mobile coffee bus Sunflower Espresso, Kate Hutchens is a fill-in host for KMUW. She has worked in broadcast journalism at KFDI, Oregon Public Broadcasting, and at KMUW as Morning Edition host, which she did until March 2017.
