Wynonie Harris Finale, Shemekia Copeland Preview, New Blues, Concert Previews & “A Hepcat’s Advice”

August 28/30

Crossroads wraps up the August centennial birthday celebration for Wynonie Harris with music from two new import compilations and a rarity that featured Sun Ra with him on piano.

Plus a sneak preview of Shemekia Copeland’s new album, along with new music from Muddy Waters 100, the Cash Box Kings, retro soul phenom Leon Bridges, Arlen Roth (with Johnny Winter’s last recorded session),  Sonny Landreth, and the Texas Horns – and classics from Little Walter, Ten Years After, Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Rolling Stones, and Al Green.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show.
