Crossroads is KMUW’s contemporary blues and soul show. Hosted by Chris Heim, the program highlights blues, R&B and soul from the post-war era to the present, from classic recordings to new releases, and from mainstream sounds to a diverse and wide-ranging collection of artists and recordings with roots in the blues and branches in nearly every other musical genre.

Crossroads wraps up the March Zydeco feature with music from the King of Zydeco - Clifton Chenier, one of the first zydeco hitmakers - Boozoo Chavis, zydeco star Buckwheat Zydeco, and local zydeco and Cajun favorites, the Mudbugs – then in hour two, a special tracing the history and musicians who helped create the “Zydeco Nation.”

Plus David Gogo - one of this year’s Juno Award nominees for Best Blues Album, and new music from Billy Branch & the Sons of Blues, Damon Fowler, and John Nemeth with the Bo-Keys.

Book Review: 'I'll Take You There' By Greg Kot

It is telling that album that finally did launch Mavis Staples' solo career was called Have A Little Faith.

Though most certainly it was a reference to her long career and deep roots in gospel, it was also about Mavis finally having a little faith in herself - belief enough to more comfortably step outside the warm embrace of the family she had performed with since she was a child, and assert her own presence and talent.
