Sedgwick County lawmakers will hold a public forum Wednesday night in downtown Wichita. It’s an opportunity for residents to voice concerns and request action from the South Central Legislative Delegation.
State Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau, who represents District 29 in Wichita is chair of the delegation. She says the forum will include discussion on the state budget, jobs, education, guns, taxes and a focus on healthcare.
With the help of some volunteers and community members on Monday, work began on a mural for the north side of the historic Dunbar Theater located at 1007 N. Cleveland in the McAdams neighborhood.
The event was a collaboration between WSU Student Involvement, WSU's Ulrich Museum, Power CDC and the city of Wichita. The artwork being painted helps detail the history of the theater gathered through firsthand accounts and public records at Wichita State University.
Kansas Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau returned from Topeka last week after "sine die," the ceremonial adjournment at the statehouse. KMUW’s Carla Eckels sat down with Faust-Goudeau, a democrat, to discuss some of her views about the 2013 legislative session.
