Posters Featuring Trayvon Martin Defaced On WSU Campus

Promotional posters featuring a photo of Trayvon Martin were recently defaced on the WSU campus.

Posters with images of African-American Trayvon Martin were defaced recently at Wichita State University.  The posters were advertising a diversity discussion, which was held Wednesday called "Does My Hoodie Scare You?"

Danielle Johnson is the program director for the WSU Office of Multicultural Affairs. She says someone scratched out the photo of Trayvon Martin on one and drew in a Hitler-style mustache on another. A third poster was marked with a large X.

"So someone took the time to deface the pictures," she says.

'It Ain't Over' Say Supporters At Wichita Trayvon Martin Rally

More than 100 protesters in Wichita took to the streets Monday night in response to the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial.

The former neighborhood watchman was acquitted Saturday in the shooting death of Florida teen, Trayvon Martin.

Demonstrators support the NAACP's effort to get the US Department of Justice to file civil rights charges against Zimmerman.

Rally In Wichita Monday Night For Trayvon Martin

A protest rally is scheduled for Monday evening in response to the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial. The Florida neighborhood watch volunteer was acquitted Saturday in the shooting death of unarmed African-American teenager Trayvon Martin.

Organizers from the Kansas Justice Advocate want the Justice Department to step in and file charges against Zimmerman, claiming that he violated Martin’s civil rights. The rally is set to take place near 21st Street and Hillside in Wichita at 5 p.m.
