Finally, fall weather has set in and I’m getting excited about eating warm, savory, heart-warming food. Summer was fun, with tomatoes and basil, and all the beautiful produce, but now I’m ready for comfort food. Fragrant stews and braises, with buttery starches and warm salads are on the menu for this season.

Restaurant Review: Garden Grill Cafe

I am delighted that Chef Miguel Larcher, of the now closed vegan restaurant D’Sozo’, has found a new location and is back to cooking amazing, interesting vegan cuisine.

His new place, the Garden Grill Café, is located inside the cool Occidental building downtown. The restaurant is a little hard to find, but just walk in the front door and enter, and you will find yourself in a lovely room, with gorgeous high ceilings and a skylight.

I have been curious about the new Delish Deli at Food For Thought since they opened a few months ago. Food for Thought is a locally owned natural food store that’s been in business since 1971, so they know what they are doing in the healthy food department.

Lotus Leaf Café

Wichita has never been known as a city that favors healthy food. We are most famous for Pizza Hut, delicious beef, and huge portions. Meat is king here and won’t soon be dethroned, but recently a couple of brave, vegetarian-friendly restaurateurs have been making health-conscious dining a whole lot easier.
