Your Move

I’ve been a fan of the Metal Gear Solid series since the first one in 1998. Since then, I’ve played them all and followed the story of the two main protagonists, both code-named "Snake."

The latest, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, was released last week.

I don’t play many games on my smartphone. I don’t normally want to sacrifice the battery life, especially if I have a dedicated gaming portable like my Nintendo 3DS with me. But sometimes, smartphone games grab me, especially if they play quick and have a social aspect to them.

Last week, I asked a friend to introduce me to some lesser-known games that don’t take very long to play. He immediately pulled out a game called Dixit. When he told me that it’s a game about telling short stories, I didn’t really understand how short he meant.

Normally, furniture isn’t something I’d be talking much about on a segment dedicated to gaming. But where you play can be just as important as what you play.

There are hundreds of practically unknown board games available that are incredibly fun to play, but have fairly complex rules. I love playing them, but it’s hard to get my friends interested in playing.

Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda series is practically mythical at this point.

Some card games have entire books and online forums devoted to debating their rules. The game Fluxx, on the other hand, has exactly two rules: draw one card, and play one card. That is, until you actually start playing cards.

With everyone home for the holidays, Christmas time is a great time to break out games to play with the whole family around.

I’ve had Nintendo’s Wii U console since February, but there haven’t been very many games exclusive for the system that have been worth buying. Perhaps it is for this reason that both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, which have been out for less than a month, have both already outsold the Wii U. Now a game has come out, though, that makes the Wii U worth picking up.

I got my PlayStation 4 this week, and I’ve spent a lot of time with a few of its new features.
