Derby Arts Council: Veteran Art Show at the Derby Public Library

The exhibit is set to run Aug. 31 through Oct. 22 and will collect works from veteran artists across all mediums (fiber arts, photography, painting, metalwork, etc.) to be shown in the Gathering Space Gallery and display case at the library entrance.

As part of the exhibit, there will be awards up for grabs, with Aug. 4 the deadline to submit entries. There will also be a public reception — and awards presentation — for the exhibit on Sept. 18.

We're celebrating 50 years of Heritage Square over 5 weeks in September!

Heritage Square is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Created in 1976 by the Junior League of Wichita to mark their own golden jubilee, the Square sits on the former site of the City's police station, which was demolished that same year as part of an urban renewal project.

Free Admission over the noon hour every Wednesday in September, and a special Saturday performance from 2-3 on the 19th! Enter Heritage Square through the Historical Museum and bring your lunch!

ICT Bee Fest, Wichita’s native plant and pollinator celebration, returns on Saturday, September 5th!

Hosted by Grassland Groupies at The Mid-America All-Indian Museum, this event offers the unique opportunity to safely interact with live bumblebees and butterflies, catch wild insects, and collect locally-sourced native plant seeds.

The festivities also include educators, crafts, food trucks, and local growers selling native plants and garden art to help you bring a piece of the prairie home. Discover how to become part of the Bee City Wichita initiative, learn from local experts to start your own wildlife-friendly native garden, and hear Pollinator Ecologist and WSU-grad Alex Morphew in this year’s keynote lecture!

This FREE come-and-go event is perfect for nature lovers of all ages.

ICT Soup is Wichita’s crowd-funded meal for artist projects. Here’s how it works: buy a ticket, share a simple meal with your neighbors, hear short pitches from local artists, and vote for the idea you want to see funded. The artist with the most votes takes home the evening’s proceeds to bring their project to life.

Launched in 2016 by artist Amanda Pfister, ICT Soup ran through 2021, building seed funding, visibility, and community connections for Wichita artists. ICT Soup is back as an official Harvester Arts program and will be held quarterly at Harvester Arts.

Are you an artist, creative, or community builder with a project idea? Anyone age 18+ can submit a proposal. ICT Soup is looking for ideas that embrace experimentation, build capacity, and engage the community. Selected artists will present at the meal and compete for funding. Presenters are given 5 minutes to present and 5 minutes for questions. Four artists are selected to present their proposals per event:

The annual Race 4 Freedom is a 5K run/walk organized by ICT S.O.S. to benefit a local organization involved in the fight against human trafficking. This year's Race for Freedom will be an IN-PERSON & virtual event on Saturday, Sept. 12th, and will benefit ICT SOS.

The annual race has raised thousands of dollars each year for a different partner organization working with at-risk youth & adults. Now in its 15th year, the race benefits the expanding work of ICT SOS.

Your participation this year helps to support therapy and advocacy services for adult survivors of trafficking and exploitation, education for youth in middle and high schools through our trafficking awareness curriculum and film, resources for professionals and survivors, and training for industries, direct service professionals, educators, volunteers, and the community.
