Each year, Open Streets ICT expands its mission by hosting three unique events in different parts of Wichita, ensuring communities across the city have the opportunity to participate. From the bustling streets near Wichita State University to the historic heart of downtown and the charming neighborhoods of South Wichita, every location offers its own flavor while staying true to our shared goal: activating the streets to encourage physical activity in a safe, car-free environment.Open Streets ICT 2019 1
By closing the streets to vehicles, we transform urban spaces into open areas where residents can bike, walk, run, skate, and play freely. These events not only inspire movement but also build stronger, more connected communities by inviting local businesses, vendors, and performers to join in the fun. Whether you’re exploring a new part of the city or reconnecting with your neighbors, Open Streets ICT offers a welcoming experience for everyone.
Join us at one—or all—of our annual events, and help us grow the movement to promote health, wellness, and togetherness in Wichita. Let’s activate the streets and create lasting change in our city, one step at a time!

The urge to create or possess a visual representation of a specific person – a portrait – is present throughout history. Portraits are created for many reasons: from sentimental to celebratory, for public or private viewing, as memorials, and as icons. .
Until the introduction of photography in the 1840s, portraits were rendered by artists in both two and three-dimensional mediums such as paintings and sculptures.
The Museum’s collection includes a variety of portraits, most of which depict local people. In this exhibition, we learn of portraiture and the people portrayed.
