Boogie Woogie Piano

September 29/October 1

Crossroads wraps up the September Blues Piano feature for Piano Month with a show devoted to boogie woogie piano. We’ll hear from such great players as Albert Ammons, Camille Howard, Pinetop Perkins, Roosevelt Sykes and Erwin Helfer in a tribute to Pete Johnson.

Crosssroads also joins in with Global Village and Strange Currency to celebrate Coffee Day, spotlights artists with local and regional concerts, and highlights the latest from Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Williams Wayne & Isaak, and  the Lost in Paris Blues Band.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
