The Magpie Salute reunites former Black Crowes guitarists Marc Ford and Rich Robinson in a band that combines expansive classic rock sensibilities with soul and R&B influences. Saturday, June 17

Paul McCartney turns 75 on June 18. We’ll celebrate his birthday with selections from his work with The Beatles and Wings as well as from solo output, plus The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, Travis and Badfinger.

Monday, June 19

The Nashville Sound is the latest release from Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit. Though Isbell has worked with the members on his recent solo efforts, it’s the first album to feature the 400 Unit credit since 2012’s Live From Alabama. Listen for selections from that as well as Marc Ford’s Holy Ghost, released in 2014.

We celebrate the Summer Solstice with selections from Freedy Johnston, XTC, Peter Wolf, Petra Haden, Rick Nelson and Bill Bruford with Ralph Towner.

Wednesday, June 21

Listen for selections from Episodes, the 2008 release from Spirit of the Stairs plus selections from a new rarities collection by Captain Beyond.

Thursday, June 22

We’ll celebrate the birthday of Todd Rundgren with selections from his work as a solo artist, with the bands Utopia and Nazz and as a producer with selections from his work with Psychedelic Furs, Patti Smith, XTC, New England and others.

Friday, June 23

Together At Last is a the new solo acoustic release from Wilco founder Jeff Tweedy. The collection sees him revisiting material from throughout Wilco’s discography and material from the side project Loose Fur. We’ll hear material from that release as well as songs from the latest by Aaron Lee Martin.

Saturday, June 24

We celebrate guitarist Jeff Beck’s birthday with music from his work with The Yardbirds, as a session player and, of course, material from his lengthy solo career.

Jedd Beaudoin is host/producer of the nationally syndicated program Strange Currency. He has also served as an arts reporter, a producer of A Musical Life and a founding member of the KMUW Movie Club. As a music journalist, his work has appeared in Pop Matters, Vox, No Depression and Keyboard Magazine.
