Crossroads this week: Magic Sam, Jazz guitar great Albert King

April 25/27

Crossroads wraps up the April Magic Sam feature with some of the first tracks he recorded for Delmark, a newly released album – Live at the Avant Garde – a track from his days on Chief Records, and another recorded on Cobra Records with his uncle, Shakey Jake Horton.

Also a birthday salute to one of the legends of the blues, Albert King, and new music from John Nemeth with the Bo-Keys, Daunielle, RL Burnside’s grandson Kent Burnside, and Tommy Castro.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
