Another truck-based business is hitting the Wichita streets this weekend, except this time it isn't serving sandwiches or pizza. Instead, it's for "traveling fashion."

The mobile clothing store, called Ginger Lily Boutique, will set up for the first time Saturday at UMB Bank, 444 N. Rock Rd, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Owner Holly Daley said she has spent months getting the box truck ready for business. In it's previously life, it carried Lance crackers.

“After so many months of hard work, I’m so excited to finally be opening my truck doors for business,” said Daley in a news release Thursday.

The truck has important things like heat, air conditioning and a changing room.

Daley said she has done extensive research about running a mobile boutique, including talking with the owners of Le Fashion Truck, who are based in Los Angeles and have been featured on several national news outlets.

“The mobile movement is growing, due to low start-up costs and low overhead, and you get to take the shop to the customer,” Daley said. “After exhaustive research, I realized I’d have creative freedom, independence and the ability to promote a small business. The novelty of the mobile boutique just appealed to me.”

Ginger Lily Boutique will carry handbags, trendy clothing, boutique jewelry, and unique home decor and gifts.

Dates, hours, and locations of the truck’s whereabouts will be posted on social media each week, as well as new arrivals and truck photos.
