Wednesday, October 21 

Still The King is the latest release from legendary western swing band Asleep At The Wheel. The album stands as the latest in a series of tributes to Bob Wills from Asleep At The Wheel and features contributions from George Strait, The Avett Brothers, Lyle Lovett and others. Listen for selections from that as well as the latest from Cherokee Maidens with Sycamore Swing, Ride Again

Thursday, October 22 

It’s Great To Be Alive! is the new sprawling live album from Drive-By Truckers and celebrates the band’s entire career, stretching back to its formation in Athens, Georgia in the mid 1990s. We’ll hear selections from that recording on this episode of Strange Currency as well as music from Gates of Gold, the most recent studio effort from Los Lobos. 

Friday, October 23

Listen for selections from Grateful Dead’s Europe ‘72, a souvenir of what many consider to be the group’s best run of European dates. We’ll hear from that and more music from the new Drive-By Truckers release, It’s Great To Be Alive!

Saturday, October 24 

Maserati quickly became one of the best American instrumental rock bands after emerging roughly a decade ago. Alongside bands such as Explosions In The Sky and Mono the group has renewed interest in instrumental rock. We’ll hear selections from Maserati’s latest, Rehumanizer as well as much from the new surprise release from Beach House, Thank Your Lucky Stars.

Monday, October 26 

Sermon On The Rocks is the latest from singer-songwriter Josh Ritter and is a harder-edged record than he has made in the past. The results are a record that is sometimes dark but always honest and easily one of Ritter’s all-time bests. We’ll hear music from it as well as the latest from Wisconsin-born singer-songwriter Jeffrey Foucault. 

Tuesday, October 27

Listen for music from the latest release from Oklahoma’s Turnpike Troubadours and from The Neighborhood, an early 1990s album from Los Lobos.

Wednesday, October 28

Haley Bonar (rhymes with honor) is a Minnesota-based musician who has earned attention for her eclectic tastes which have culminated in the new electronic-driven release from her band Gramma’s Boyfriend. We’ll hear selections from that group’s self-titled release as well as music from Maserati. 

Thursday, October 29 

Devil Music is the latest from roots and blues artist Randall Bramblett. We’ll hear music from that as well as from the 2014 self-titled release by Feral Foster.

Friday, October 30

Listen for Halloween-themed music from horror film director John Carpenter, plus an array of cover versions and chilling originals from Peter Gabriel, The Cure, The Flaming Wailers and The Shaggs. 

Saturday, October 31

It’s our annual Halloween special with music from John Carpenter, Roky Erickson, Phish and more.
