The unemployment rate is down to 3.4 percent in Kansas.

The Kansas Department of Labor reported on Friday that unemployment decreased from 3.6 percent in July 2017. In Wichita, unemployment dropped to 4.3 percent in July, compared to 4.8 percent last year.

The national unemployment rate was 3.9 percent in July.

According to the monthly report, July was Kansas’ 14th consecutive month of job growth. Kansas has slightly exceeded the national rate for job growth over the past year.

The report also showed that Kansas employees are working more hours per week, and they’re getting paid more for those hours than they did last year. The average Kansan now works 35 hours a week and earns about $24 per hour.
