More Gospel Blues from Rev. Gary Davis, The Sojourners, Rory Block, Campbell Brothers & More

April 22/24

Crossroads continues its month long celebration of the 120th birthday of gospel blues great, Rev. Gary Davis, with music from one of his classic albums, Harlem Street Singer, and covers of his songs from Rory Block, the Sojourners, and the Ragpicker String Band.

Plus new music from Benny Turner (with special guest Charles Brown), Karen Lovely, and a new release in tribute to gospel bluesman Blind Willie Johnson – and a special performance from the Savannah Music Festival in hour two of the show with the critically acclaimed sacred steel group, the Campbell Brothers.

Chris Heim produces and hosts Global Village, a nationally and internationally distributed world music show; the nightly jazz show Night Train, and Crossroads, KMUW’s twice-weekly blues and R&B show. Chris is also a critic and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Utne, Global Rhythm, Dirty Linen, and Option, among others.
