Nonprofit To Offer Free Business Workshops

A free startup seminar will be held in Maize on Thursday to help aspiring entrepreneurs learn more about starting a business.

The workshop includes topics such as developing a sound business plan and covering important marketing strategies.

The session is offered by SCORE, a volunteer-run nonprofit that provides free confidential business advice. It's a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Joe Dukich, a SCORE counselor trained to help mentor future business owners, says a new small business readiness self-assessment sheet will be offered to participants to rate six or seven components.

"One to 10 are your products and services that really need it," Dukich says "Who are your potential buyers, what are you going to have to charge for it, who is your competition, things like that."

He says SCORE mentors are also available to help.
