Remembering Earth, Wind & Fire's Maurice White

The Source

Sunday February 7

This week on Soulsations, we remember Earth, Wind & Fire founder, Maurice White.  The singer, songwriter, producer, and innovator died in his sleep at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 74 this week.  He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1992 and stopped touring with the band soon after.

White once told Newsweek we live in a negative society: "Most people can’t see beauty and love.  I see music as medicine”.  Maurice White was inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010 and his wildly successful jazz, funk,  R&B, and  gospel band, Earth Wind & Fire, has sold 90 million records worldwide. Listen for an hour filled with Earth, Wind & Fire music as we celebrate this remarkable musician!

See White perform with Earth, Wind & Fire in their hit "September" here:
