Sedgwick County Election officials are preparing for upcoming deadlines and looking for poll workers this fall.

June 1 at noon is the deadline for party affiliation changes and for questions to be placed on the August primary ballot. Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Tabitha Lehman says candidates running for office also have to file by June 1.

"When we get to this part of the deadline, we obviously see an increase in people coming to file, so we’re seeing an uptick in the number of precinct committee filings," she says.

Lehman says her office is recruiting people to work at the polls.

"We will pay you $120 for the day, and then we will pay you to come to training beforehand," Lehman says. "We are pretty good for August, but we will need several hundred more people for November."

Training for poll workers begins in July.
