More than 25,000 voters in 60 Sedgwick County voting precincts will be affected by several changes to polling places.
Announcements were sent out today informing people that their polling place has moved since the last election. Officials say to watch for an envelope marked “Official Election Material.”
Sedgwick County Election Commissioner Tabitha Lehman says some polling places were unavailable this year; others have become too expensive to use, and some don't have enough space. She says the election office is planning more people showing up to vote, especially for the general election.
“We actually anticipate the election to be probably the largest election turnout we've ever seen because we do not have an incumbent president," Lehman says. "We’re expecting to see more people at the polls than we’ve seen in the past.”
The deadline to register to vote in the primary election is July 12.
