Republican Kansas Senator Pat Roberts could have a new challenger in the 2014 U.S. Senate election. Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor is reportedly considering a run for the seat.
Taylor, a Democrat, has been the top prosecutor for Shawnee County since he was elected in 2008. Topeka media outlets are reporting Taylor will officially announce Monday that he’s forming an exploratory committee and considering a challenge to Senator Roberts.
Taylor graduated from the University of Kansas and received a law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law. He founded a law firm in 2001.
Pat Roberts has held the Senate seat since 1997. Roberts is already facing a Republican primary challenge from Milton Wolf, a physician in the Kansas City area.
