Stevie Wonder And Taj Mahal Step Into The Twilight Zone

Tuesday, May 9

The Grateful Dead performed many legendary shows across the band’s career but the San Francisco unit’s performance at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York on May 8, 1977 remains the stuff of legend with hardcore Dead fans declaring it one of the all-time best from the group. We’ll hear selections from the newly-released three-disc set from that show as well as music from guitarist Thurston Moore’ s new album Rock ‘n’ Roll Consciousness.

Pollinator is the brand new recording from the band Blondie, we’ll hear selections from that recording plus The Days We Had by Day Wave.

Thursday, May 11

We celebrate Twilight Zone Day with music from the fringes and songs that describe life’s more surreal moments.

Friday, May 12

Humanz is the new release by virtual band Gorillaz. Combining elements of hip-hop, Britpop and electronic music, the group has collaborated with De La Soul, Mavis Staples and Grace Jones on this new effort. Listen for music from it as well as brand new music from Grizzly Bear.

Saturday, May 13

We celebrate Stevie Wonder’s 67th birthday with music from throughout his career as well as covers of his songs from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Greg Howe and more.

Monday, May 15 

Atlanta, Georgia-based group Biters combines elements of glam, garage rock and blues. The group’s new album is The Future Ain’t What It Used To Be. We’ll hear from it on this episode of the show as well as music from David Bowie’s Aladdin Sane.

Tuesday, May 16

Big Bad Love is the brand-new album from Oklahoma singer-songwriter John Moreland; we’ll hear selections from it as well as music from the latest by Chris Stapleton.

Wednesday, May 17

Musician Taj Mahal turns 75 on this date, we’ll celebrate with selections from throughout his career.
