An annual report from the moving company United Van Lines ranks Kansas in the bottom ten states for the amount of people packing up and moving to other states.
Each year, United Van Lines tracks where their customers are going—compiling data on age, income level and their reason for moving.
For the second straight year, roughly 58 percent of people are moving out of Kansas, as opposed to moving in. That puts Kansas at 6th worst in the nation.
According to the study, the vast majority of those moving out of state are doing so for jobs or for retirement, which correlates with the data on age—two-thirds of those moving out of Kansas were between the ages of 18 to 34, or older than 55.
Nearly 30 percent of those moving out report incomes of $100,000 to $149,999.
The data from United Van Lines coincides with sluggish economic reports for 2015.
