According to a survey taken by Wichita's RSA Marketing, Koch Industries is the most recognizable brand from Kansas.
More than 1,000 Kansans were asked to name the Kansas-based brand they think is the most famous. Koch Industries took the top spot, followed by Pizza Hut, KU, Garmin and Coleman. Aircraft companies Boeing and Cessna also were in the top 10.
In 2014, Koch Industries was in 10th place. Its leap to first is credited to what RSA Marketing calls aggressive recruiting advertising, nearly continuous national reporting on the political activities of the Koch brothers and a recent PR blitz to promote Charles Koch's new book.
Just below the top ten most recognizable are the world champion Kansas City Royals and the Wichita State Shockers.
One thing missing from the list is the presence of young new Kansas-based brands. Additionally, some of the brands that made the top 10 like Pizza Hut, Coleman and Boeing are no longer based in the state.
