Tornadoes Touch Down In Kansas

During Sunday's storms, a tornado touched down near Mid-Content Airport shortly before 4 p.m., knocking out power to thousands of homes and businesses but bypassing the most populated areas of Wichita.

The tornado was an EF1 on the enhanced Fujita scale, with winds of 110 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Sedgwick County Emergency Management Director Randy Duncan said there were no reports of fatalities or injuries in Kansas.

A tornado touched down in rural Lyon County, causing structural damage to homes. A Kansas Division of Emergency Management spokesperson says the tornado hit around 5:40 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
