Wichita Mayor Jeff Longwell and other city leaders are in Mexico this week to explore trade opportunities.
The mayor, along with City Councilman Jeff Blubaugh, Assistant City Manager Scot Rigby and a delegation of businesses from Mexico, are in the state of Queretaro until Thursday.
The purpose of the visit is to strengthen economic ties and find new trade opportunities between Wichita and Mexico.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to go down there and potentially create some export business for our companies in Wichita," Longwell said of the trip at a news briefing last week.
Wichita recently ranked third in the nation for export growth, with transportation equipment, machinery and petroleum products topping the list of exports. Kansas exported a total of $1.8 billion worth of goods to Mexico in 2015.
