A distinctive City of Wichita license plate will be available beginning January 2019 to help support city parks.
Wichita Vice Mayor Bryan Frye says the license plate will feature the Wichita flag.
"You’ll be able to put your pride for Wichita where your plates are, and so that will be a great new addition to our Wichita swag," Frye says.
The $50 annual royalty fee for the license plates will go to the Wichita Parks Foundation to support park improvements and programs.
Gov. Jeff Colyer will be in Wichita Saturday for a ceremony to sign House Bill 2599 into law.
The Kansas Legislature also approved distinctive license plates for Special Olympics, Choose Life, and four new veteran options: veteran of the Korean War, veteran of Operation Desert Storm, veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom.
