Wichita Transit Adds Two Stops On WIchita State Campus

Beginning Monday, Wichita Transit's East 17th Street route will run through the Wichita State University main campus instead of around it.

Wichita Transit buses will use existing WSU Shuttle System bus shelters to provide two inbound and two outbound stops on campus.

Currently, the 17th Street route offers only one stop serving WSU, on the south edge of campus. That stop will be discontinued.

The new outbound route will enter the main campus from 17th Street at Fairmount and make stops at Duerksen Fine Arts Center and Hubbard Hall before exiting onto 21st Street at Yale.

The new inbound route will enter the main campus from 21st Street at Mike Oatman Drive with stops at the Marcus Welcome Center/Eck Stadium and Elliott Hall and exit onto 17th Street at Fairmount.

Wichita Transit buses will arrive on campus every 30 minutes during peak times (roughly 6-10 a.m. and 3:30-7 p.m. on weekdays) and every hour at off-peak times and on Saturday. City buses do not operate on Sundays or holidays.

All Wichita Transit buses are equipped free wi-fi and bike racks.

Those wishing to ride the bus can purchase semester passes that provide unlimited rides on all Wichita Transit routes for the entire semester.

Information on bus routes and fares can be found at www.wichitatransit.org
