Wichita State University police are investigating reports of racist chalk drawings found on campus Monday morning.
Students and employees found sidewalk chalk drawings in front of several buildings. Some of the vandalism included hate speech regarding race and gender identity, according to a news release from the university. The drawings have since been removed.
In a statement, WSU President John Bardo condemned the chalkings.
“We deplore all forms of hate speech, including these acts of vandalism,” he said.
A similar incident took place earlier this year at Bethany College in Lindsborg when chalk outlines of bodies and messages including “Make Lindsborg White Again” were scrawled on sidewalks on campus.
WSU is asking anyone with more information on the incident to contact University Police at 316-978-3450.
