Wichita State University is reporting an increase in the number of invention disclosures coming from its campus following a new marketing campaign.
WSU Ventures began as a way to encourage WSU faculty, staff and students to commercialize their ideas. It focuses on technology transfer, expanding industry partnerships, and commercializing WSU innovations.
Earlier this week, WSU reported that in fiscal year 2013, the school saw 16 invention disclosures from faculty students and staff; in 2014, there were 22 disclosures. In fiscal year 2015, the first full fiscal year since WSU Ventures was implemented, the school had 41 invention disclosures.
WSU Ventures looks at invention disclosures and decides whether to file for patent protection. It is an endeavor within the Office of the Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer at WSU.
