2012 General Election unofficial results for Sedgwick County, Kan.

With nearly all precincts reporting, Sedgwick County residents cast 179,784 votes, which resulted in a 65 percent turnout.

Wichita Water Fluoridation:

  • Yes ...... 50890 / 40%
  • No ...... 74788 / 59%

Constitutional Amendment on water craft taxation:

  • Yes ...... 92712 / 60%
  • No ...... 62646 / 40%

Voters See Long Lines On Election Day

Several voting sites throughout Sedgwick County were busy Tuesday.

A steady line of voters snaked throughout the hallway at the Bel Aire polling place just north of Wichita.

Supervising Judge Vickie Woodworth said the turnout has been tremendous with more than 500 people voting before noon.

"To me, it seems like there's a larger turnout this time than 4 years ago," said Woodworth. "I think that it's just a very important election and people want their views known."

Ballot Measure On Boat Taxes Could Confuse Voters

When voters flip over their ballot, they'll be greeted with a long, wordy ballot question. The issue has to do with how boats are taxed in Kansas, and is a proposed constitutional amendment. 

A yes vote would allow lawmakers to reduce property tax rates for boats to bring them more in line with tax rates for cars and other recreational vehicles. A no vote would leave tax rates as they are.

Polls are open for election day 2012; State revenues are expected to be forecast today; Kansas officials say there are 2,200 people on waiting list for disability services.

In Sedgwick County, the polls are open for General Election Day - the polls will be open from 7 a.m to 7 p.m. Every voter must now show a photo ID when voting . Advance ballots must be in the Election Office by 7 p.m. Tuesday night. For more information, or to look up your assigned polling location, go to sedgwickcounty.org/elections
