Services For Former KMUW Gospel Host To Be Held Saturday

Funeral services will be held Saturday for former KMUW gospel announcer Dennis Shaw, who died last week from an illness. For more than two decades, Shaw hosted the program Gospel Express.

He coined the phrase “Dennis Shaw from Wichita” and "The Man with the Tan on Radio Land.” Shaw gained an extensive following as host of his show heard Sunday mornings from the summer of 1972 to the mid-'90s. He was a devoted volunteer host who aired choir and quartet music and community announcements.

Gospel Music Executive To Start Network In Wichita

For more than two decades, Carla Williams has worked as a gospel music executive. She’s helped manage the careers of platinum and Grammy award-winning gospel artists.

A couple of years ago, she started her own company, CW Creative, and recently returned home to Wichita to start a new initiative to help area artists.

KMUW’s Carla Eckels talked with Williams about her expertise in the industry and launching The Gathering Network.
