On Thursday, China announced plans to begin buying beef from the U.S. again. That’s after a 13-year ban based on concerns about Mad Cow disease.

China banned imports of American beef in 2003 after a dairy cow in Washington State was discovered with BSE, also called mad cow disease.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said that forced U.S. producers to build exports elsewhere, and a deal with China could further boost the industry.

Kansas Meat Packer Recalls 50,000 Pounds Of Beef

National Beef Packing Company in Liberal is recalling more than 50,000 pounds of ground beef products over E. coli concerns.

The U.S. Agriculture Department says the recalled products carry the number "EST. 208A" inside the USDA mark. They were produced July 18 and shipped in 40- to 60-pound cases across the country.

The recall includes 10-lb. packages of "National Beef" 93/7 with product code 0707.
