At Play: Tom Stoppard, Andrew Lloyd Weber Productions On Tap

The Crown Uptown Theatre continues its run of Cats. The musical is Broadway’s second longest running show in history and fourth longest running production in London’s West End history. This show is an audience favorite and is composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Cats tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as “the Jellicle choice” and decide which cat will ascend to the Heavyside Layer and come back to a new life.

At Play: End Of Summer Brings Drama And A Look Into The Past

Coming in September to the Scottish Rite Temple it’s A Few Good Men.

Now through September 1, Kechi Playhouse presents Not Now Darling. The play is set in the exclusive London fur salon of Bodley, Bodley, and Crouch, where Crouch struggles to keep things above board while his partner, Mr. Bodley, tries to secure the affections of a would-be mistress by “selling” her husband an expensive mink coat for a fraction of its real worth. Clothes, furs and scruples all fly out the window in this fast-paced and witty farce.

Music Theatre of Wichita presents Mary Poppins August 9-11 and 14-18.

Throughout August the Crown Uptown presents Spring Awakening. Winner of eight 2007 Tony Awards, including those for best musical, direction, book and score, Spring Awakening is a rock musical adaptation of the controversial 1891 German play by the same name. Set in late-19th century Germany, it concerns teenagers who are discovering the inner and outer tumult of transitioning to adulthood.

At Play: Season Of The Farce

July 10 sees the opening of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic The King and I at Music Theatre of Wichita. Based on Margaret Landon’s Anna and the King of Siam this production features memorable numbers such as “Getting To Know You,” “Shall We Dance?” and “Something Wonderful.”

Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. The Dixie Swim Club focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of 33 years.

At Play: Women Through The Ages

The Forum Theatre presents The Full Monty now through May 19. Based on the 1997 film, this musical comedy follows six unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, New York who have no cash and no prospects. They set out to make some quick cash by showing off their "real man" bodies in their own stripper act.
